Laying hens

Schothorst Feed Research conducts laying hen research on a small-scale and on a practical-scale. The practical-scale facility is SGS-certified in accordance with the standards set out in the "Maatlat Duurzame Veehouderij" (benchmark for sustainable livestock farming). Our small-scale facilities are suitable for testing feed compositions and additives. Our large-scale facilities are suitable for testing feed compositions and feed strategies in conditions that are in line with practice. Schothorst Feed Research also has metabolic cages for digestibility studies. In each facility, the laying percentage, egg weight, egg mass, feed intake, and feed conversion can be determined for each experimental unit. Depending on the goal of the research, different supplementary observations can be performed.
